Hot Meal Program

The hot meal program provides meals to the poor and needy of the community six days a week. We serve between 40 and 90 guests at each meal. The meals are prepared on site by our staff and served by volunteers from area churches and civic organizations. Volunteers help plate and serve each meal. There are no buffet lines at Friendship Place. In August of 2008, we started out Saturday lunch program.

We can provide food and cutlery for one person for one week for about $16

Sheltering Program

Through the use of area motels, the sheltering program provides Georgetown County residents in crisis with temporary emergency shelter. All participants must complete an application and background check for this service. We provide temporary shelter aimed at helping people get back on their feet.

We can provide 3 nights of emergency shelter to an individual for about $160.

Baskervill Shuttle

We provide weekly transportation from Georgetown to Smith Medical Clinic in Pawleys Island. This service is for the uninsured of the community. We can also assist the patients with transportation to get their prescriptions filled from Smith Medical Clinic.

We can run the van for one month for about $300.

Job Training Program

The job training program is designed to assist the unemployed and under-employed in attaining full time employment. We are currently focusing our efforts in the field of nursing by providing scholarships for the Certified Nurses’ Aide class. With this program, we provide books, tuition, uniforms, individualized tutoring and any needed medical equipment to ensure that the students are more than qualified to pass their state certification exam.

It costs about $1,100 per student.

Friendship Place's House

In collaboration with the Georgetown County Housing Authority, Friendship Place manages a five bedroom house used as transitional housing for families in crisis. After an extensive application process families may live rent free for a period of 30 to 150 days.

While guests stay at the home, they must be working and actively developing plans that will lead to self-sufficiency. Sponsors from area businesses or non-profit organizations help us by giving hands-on support and mentoring the families during the sometimes difficult times they are facing.

It costs about $380 a month to keep the utilities running in the house.

It costs about $1,100 per student.

Food Pantry

We have a small emergency food pantry open primarily on Fridays during the meal. We rely on food drives and donations to keep our pantry stocked.

No donation is too small and all donations will go to help us continue to creatively and cost effectively meet the unmet needs of Georgetown County.
